Dog discovered locked in suitcase terribly abused

Desperate cries from an abused dog led police to a suitcase behind an abandoned building in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday morning about 1:00 a.m.. And there police spotted a dog’s paw sticking out of the blue hard textured suitcase. The young pup had been left for dead.

According to the Sun Sentinel, the bloodied dog had been severely injured with stab wounds to the top of his head and lacerations across his body. Miranda Grossman, a Hollywood Police Department spokesperson,   determined the dog, now dubbed Ollie, had been both stabbed and beaten. Police transported him to the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital where he is currently being treated.

“Hollywood police are searching for the individual or individuals who severely injured a dog and left him trapped inside a suitcase,” Grossman stated.

Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue in Fort Lauderdale have stepped up to help the one-year-old dog. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help with Ollie’s medical expenses.

“The general opinion is that he will be OK.  He is in the best care and best place possible with Dr. Patterson and the team of doctors at VCA Hollywood.  It’s going to be a long “sore” road for Oliver, but it’s all uphill from here.

Ollie has been turned over to Grateful Paws, and we are asking for donations to help cover his Vet bills –

AND… we are looking for a foster or adoptive home for him  for when he is released from the hospital.  Grateful Paws will be responsible for his follow-up Vet visits and meds, etc. but a hospital environment is never as good as a loving home for “healing”.  (Broward County)”

Updates for Ollie will be available on the organization’s Facebook page. Anyone with information is asked to contact Hollywood Police at 954.967.4411 or Crimestoppers at 954.493.8477.
