When a tiny Chihuahua found herself in the middle of a busy intersection in Rose City, Arkansas, on Monday afternoon one person was at the ready to whisk her to safety. According to Arkansas Matters, Officer Iradale Whitney, with North Little Rock Police Department, didn’t hesitate to throw on his police cruiser lights and rush to the middle of the intersection to save the dog from being hit.
Wendy Peeks and her husband happened to be present when the rescue effort got underway, and they even captured the sweet scene on video. The frightened pooch wasn’t sure what to make of her hero at first, but with a bit of coaxing, she walked over and allowed herself to be lifted out of harm’s way.
Thanks to Officer Whitney, the wayward dog was saved and she is now waiting for her owner (who has been searching for her for some time) to come and pick her up from the local animal shelter. Great save Officer Whitney!
