A California family claims that their small dog was fatally injured after being crushed by a large package that a FedEx delivery driver allegedly threw into their yard. According to multiple sources, Mitchell Galin and Keiko Napier’s Yorkie, Cooper, was badly injured when a FedEx driver hurled a big box over the fence into their yard in Venice.
The couple claims that they found their 4-pound dog in a “puddle of blood” beneath the heavy box. Cooper was rushed to a veterinarian and crushing injuries to her lungs and liver were found. The difficult decision was made to have Cooper humanely euthanized. Galin tells 14 News, “It’s painful to watch your dog in pain.”
In a statement FedEx indicates that the incident is being investigated:
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the pet involved in this incident. We take this matter very seriously and are working directly with those involved to determine the circumstances behind this event,”
Cooper’s owners hope that a policy will be put into place to stop drivers from throwing packages altogether.

What is wrong with this? A Fedex driver should NOT be “throwing” a heavy box over a fence into a yard to begin with! The contents could have been damaged or destroyed but even worse it killed a little dog! Someone needs to be arrested for this! My sincere condolences to this family. I can’t imagine finding my little dog in such condition and then losing them.

Another case of a Fedex driver injuring a family pet, this one fatally. Just days ago another Fedex driver ran over a dog, in his own yard, and drove away without even bothering to check on the condition of the injured dog. She did, however, get out of the truck twice to check the truck. Had the family not had a surveillance camera they would never have know how their pet was injured. This is obviously a systemic problem with Fedex. Their drivers are in too big of a hurry to make stops and are not paying attention to what they are doing. For a driver to throw a package, any package, over a fence seems to me to be completely unacceptable. That driver, like the previous one, should be immediately fired and the incident widely publicized within the company as a strong warning to other drivers that such conduct WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Come on Fedex, step up and do the right thing here.
