On Sunday evening, Animal Protection Officers from ACCT Philly responded to an emergency call from SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) police officers concerning a small Shih Tzu that had been trapped on a train track support beam on the 63rd and Market Street platform.

Witnesses had spotted the small black dog running along the tracks before she became stuck on top of one of the support pillars.

Officer Kevin arrived and waited while SEPTA maintenance brought in a cherry picker to reach the dog. Once he got close enough, he was able to slip a leash over the dog’s neck.

She has been sent to ACCT, the city’s animal shelter.
We’re incredibly relieved that this little dog, whom we have named Dottie, is safe! Thank you to SEPTA Police and SEPTA maintenance for helping make sure she could be brought down without injury.
Dottie is on “stray hold” with ACCT. If not claimed within 48 hours by her owner, she will be available for adoption.
