Loyal pup ran away twice only to return to exact spot where she had been abandoned

At White Paws German Shepherd Rescue in Wisconsin, a dog’s loyalty underwent a heartbreaking reality this past week. No doubt she had been dumped by the family she loved, but she wasn’t giving up. Hoping they soon would return for her, she waited in the exact spot where she had been pushed out of the car.

Earlier this week, the rescue staff had been asked to help the very sweet shepherd blend who had been regularly spotted on the corner of a road. She would just lie there all day, and it was not immediately known if she belonged to the owners of the house nearby or if there had been another reason.

A foster home was secured, and she was brought to safety where she was able to snuggle in a soft bed and be given tasty and nutritious food. She seemed so sweet, and thought to be an older dog, but her veterinarian exam would clear up her age and any health challenges.

Yesterday, as the “the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry,” she escaped and took off. The foster family headed out to find her, and when they returned to check the area where she was originally found, there she was.

As they drove up, she was lying in the exact spot where she had been found.

It’s very clear this girl was dumped by someone she loved, and she was waiting for them to come back for her.

How heartbreaking it was to see her lying in the same spot. Her owners dumped her as if she didn’t matter. This loyal pooch had gone back to the spot hoping her person would come just as many other loyal dogs do when they are dumped. They stay in that spot – hoping against hope and with a flickering sparkle in their eyes hoping their family is on the way.

She is safe again and is now receiving lots of extra loving.

Her name is Ziva, and although not much about her is known, she will never be alone and homeless again.

Her foster mom tells us Ziva is doing great!
