At Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a three-month-old puppy arrived on Monday morning. The eight-pound little pooch had landed in a shelter in southern Missouri in terrible shape.
The shelter asked Stray Rescue for help; the dehydrated, malnourished puppy with a very low body temperature was not able to use his back legs. His new name – and on his arrival, volunteers and staff decided he looked like a “Petey Pie.”

A veterinarian examination noted how weak he is, especially in his back legs, but his prognosis is promising as it is believed as he gains strength, will walk normally. Nothing abnormal showed on his radiograms or his ortho/neuro exam.
He has scabs between his ears, bumps on his abdomen and thighs. His nails are discolored, and he had fecal and urine stained fur. And if that’s not enough, poor little Petey also has ringworms which is highly contagious.

This afternoon Petey Pie received a much needed medicated bath.
Sweet little man is so skinny and little, he could go right down the drain. We gotchu buddy. Now and always.
Getting a much needed bath:
He has been started on antibiotics, fluids and nutritious food. From this day forward, Petey Pie has a wonderful life ahead of him.
