In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a kind man rescued a dog he spotted running through traffic on the busy I-95 road resulting in a traffic jam. The dog had just escaped from a serious vehicular collision.
The crash had occurred in the southbound express lanes near Fort Lauderdale. Three people were injured, one vehicle had overturned, and another person suffered serious life-threatening injuries.
It had been on February 13, when Good Samaritan Brian Filous spotted the dog named Duke. And there wasn’t a doubt in his mind that he knew he had to rescue the pup as the traffic jam continued to pile up.
Brian was able to calm the dog down and slowly lure Duke into his truck. He brought the dog home.
Duke did not have a nametag and had not been microchipped. On Monday, Filous discovered the dog belonged to one of the drivers in the crash – a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Filous is planning to bring Duke back to the veteran’s caretaker this week.
Angels don’t always have wings.
