In Las Vegas, a dog is safe after authorities say a woman abandoned the pup at the airport. The dog had been left at Harry Reid International Airport on February 2, according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

The owner of the dog was caught on surveillance video as she checked in at the JetBlue ticket counter.
The woman had not completed the necessary paperwork in order to fly with the dog as a service animal, and the staff denied her a boarding pass. She tied the dog to a baggage sizer in Terminal 3, and within less than a minute walked away without the dog. The woman obviously decided to abandon the dog and proceeded to the gate to board her flight.

The friendly two-year-old pup was cared for by the airport staff and police officers. He is currently in the custody of animal control and Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas where he has been cared for until his mandatory 10-day hold period has been completed. He will then be neutered and vaccinated.
According to the rescue organization, the dog has been named JetBlue, and his popularity has blossomed across social media with numerous applications from kind people who want to adopt him.

This sweet boy is incredible. Truly incredible. And after everything he’s been through, the thought of him ever experiencing abandonment again has us on very high alert. We will be extremely intentional in choosing his forever family. He deserves stability. Security. Commitment. A lifetime promise.
In a powerful way, JetBlue has brought awareness to rescue, to abandonment laws, and to the reality that dogs are not disposable. He may end up helping many of our babies find homes because of the spotlight he’s created — and for that, we are so grateful.
The suspect, identified as Germiran Bryson was arrested and later released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 31
