A shepherd mix named Keks has been making a miraculous recovery after he was found by a Good Samaritan earlier this year in Germany. The concerned citizen spotted the injured dog in the municipality of Bautzen and took him to the Tierheim Bautzen animal shelter for treatment.
When veterinarians examined the friendly pup, x-rays discovered between 40 to 50 air rifle pellets lodged in Keks’ bones and muscles. The pellets were mainly found in his forehead and neck.

Veterinarians were stunned while looking at the radiographs:
how cruel can a person be to inflict such pain and suffering on their animal?
An investigation by the Bautzen Criminal Investigation Department found the dog’s owner, who has since been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. According to the Animal Welfare Act, if found guilty of the animal cruelty violations, he could face up to three years in prison.

Keks underwent three separate surgeries, but there are still pellets that remain ih the dog’s head as some were too close to major blood vessels. The dog’s final surgery was at the end of August.
… 7 more devils were removed. Unfortunately, the ones that are still inside are lying so close to vessels or have grown into bones. Our hearts already slipped into our pants when it was said ‘he stopped breathing briefly’ Thanks to the vet team who didn’t give up on getting all the diabolos out that were possible.
And here’s the best news; one of the staff members at the shelter decided to adopt Keks, and although he is still recovering from this serious ordeal, Keks is reported to be doing quite well.

Best wishes for a full recovery Keks.
