It had been on July 8 when two friendly Labrador retrievers wandered away from their home in North Texas. Tragically, they were fatally shot by a security guard on the property of Eagle Mountain International Church. Both dogs had been wearing collars – clearly indicating the dogs were someone’s pets.
The owners of the dogs were frantic after their dogs, Hershey and Bella had gone missing. They reached out to social media and posted on a local lost dog website.

It was just days later, the family found out their dogs were dead. The owners were shocked after someone at the church stated the white Lab had growled and the security personnel “felt the dog was aggressive.”
According to the family, the two Labradors were very friendly.
The owners responded:
my dogs were lost and needed help and were hungry.
It is illegal to kill a dog in Texas just because the animal is trespassing on your property. Texas law states that you cannot kill, poison, or seriously injure an animal without the owner’s consent, or if it puts you, others, or your animals in danger. There is legal justification to kill a dog in self defense.
Rest in peace Hershey and Bella.

This is tragic news. The so-called security guard should be fired and charged with animal cruelty. If you find a lost dog with an identity collar, keep the dog safe and contact the owner. It’s called “common sense” and being a decent human being…… this POS guard just wanted to kill these innocent dogs because he could……. Totally disgusting behavior.
