Love isn’t always found at first sight. Sometimes, it takes a little digging, a little understanding, and a whole lot of wagging tails. This is the story of “Love”, a dog waiting patiently for her forever home at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.

Four-year-old “Love” arrived at the shelter in January as a stray. Shortly after, she was adopted by a very loving family. The adopters had cats, and unfortunately Love was too interested in chasing them, so she ultimately had to be returned to our shelter.

Love’s Journey:

Love’s past is shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that she arrived at the shelter with a heart full of hope and a tail that never stopped wagging. She’s a charming blend of the sweetest dog breed, and her eyes sparkle with a love that transcends her circumstances. She’s guaranteed to cuddle up – even if it’s someone new coming into her life. Despite the happy facade however, Love is declining at the shelter. Each day at the shelter is another day away from the warmth of a home, the comfort of a couch, and the joy of a belly rub.

Despite regular walks, enrichment and TLC, Love is quickly declining at our shelter. The kennel REALLY stresses her out. We are looking for an adopter or Promote a Pet foster ASAP. Love is a very submissive and timid dog. She just wants to be near her humans for comfort.

Here’s what we learned while Love was in a home:

She is housebroken

She is crate trained

She lived peacefully with another dog in her adopted home. Since Love has been at our shelter, she has been reactive to other others and not doing well, so a meet and greet would be required prior to foster/adoption.

She prefers no kitties in the home

Opening Your Heart to Love:

Adopting Love isn’t just about giving a dog a home; it’s about gaining a loyal companion, a furry shadow who will greet you with enthusiasm every day. It’s about opening your heart to the unconditional love that only a dog can offer. It’s about changing a life, and in turn, having your life changed forever.

  1. I wonder how she is with cats, small dogs and horses? If she’s ok with them, she would be welcome to join us in Washington state if transportation can be arranged.

Or is she reactive to ALL other animals???

This info will be very valuable to potential adopters and fosters.
