Heartwarming tears of joy: 801 days in Georgia shelter Queenie found her family

Spread the love

At the Humane Society of Forsyth County, in Georgia, a nine-year-old brindle and white bull dog/boxer blend named Queenie, who had to be the only dog in a home, has all of us shedding tears of happiness. After 801 days at the shelter, Queenie found her ‘furever’ family. And it’s perfect!

Although the staff and volunteers all love Queenie and surely will miss her, having a home has been the priority and no doubt where any dog should be. On October 19, the organization’s Facebook page posted the heartwarming announcement:

Queenie has found her forever home!

After 801 days in our shelter, this sweet girl has hit the jackpot with a loving family who is already showering her with all the love and affection she deserves. We couldn’t be happier for her!

While we’re going to miss seeing her adorable face every day, knowing she’s in her perfect home makes it all worth it. Thank you to everyone who supported her along the way!

Happy tails, Queenie!

Queenie’s journey has not been easy. In 2022, she had been transferred from a local animal shelter after arriving with her ten puppies. Once the puppies were weaned and ready to start their lives, it wasn’t long before they were adopted, but not so for Queenie. She was older, had some skin allergies, was heartworm positive and needed to be the only dog in the home.

The rescue only had the best to write about her, and often featured her videos and adorable smiling face. In an October 11, post:

She may be 8.5 years old, but her heart is as young and vibrant as ever, and she has so much love left to give. She enjoys leisurely walks, playtime, and lounging with her human. With her mature age, Queenie is well past the energetic puppy stage, which means she’s a calm and well-mannered companion.

Queenie just yearned for a family of her own. Her advocates asked for help on social media hoping friends, family or social media contacts could help to fulfill the pup’s dream of her own family where she could be the “sole recipient of love and attention” and have the rest of her life to look forward to filled with lots of fun, lots of adventures and of course – lots of love.

Sure Queenie was getting a little older, but many people prefer the calmness and wisdom of older dogs – qualities that Queenie possessed. She preferred long, slow walks and then perhaps a quiet nap on the couch with her human companions.

And yes, sometimes it takes longer, but Queenie’s patience paid off.

Check out the message from Queenie’s new family:

Everyone!!! We have been incredibly blessed to welcome Queenie into our home! Thank you to the Humane Society of Forsyth County, GA and all who have been taking such good care of her! She is simply amazing.

Live a long and wonderful life Queenie. Never give up!
