In San Bernardino, popular rescuer Faith Easdale, had been on a long drive rescuing another dog in danger just two years ago, when she spotted the tiniest dog standing on a street corner shivering in fear. He was so skinny; was he lost or had someone just dumped him on the sidewalk not caring if he lived or died?
In the busy, residential neighborhood, a man was within a few feet of the scared pup while fixing his car. Faith asked him if he knew who owned the dog or maybe it was his? The man looked at the dog, looked back at Faith and just shook his head. Seconds later, he was back fixing his car.
The dog took off and ran into a yard between the bars of a fence. Faith walked up to the house, knocked on the door and asked if the tiny dog belonged to her. She said the dog had been sitting on the corner for a few days and had no idea where he belonged.
And onto the next house where a man had been standing by a truck. Such a big world and such a tiny dog, the scared pooch darted under the man’s truck. Again, Faith asked if the dog belonged to him? He shook his head, and grabbed a pole to poke the dog out from under his truck.
“Please dont do that! it’s a busy street and i don’t want him running into it,” Faith pleaded with the man.
And there the dog ran out from under the truck and onto the road.

I knelt down and the most unbelievable thing happened. Thinking I needed a trap which i didn’t have with me.
He slowly walked up to me. I had a small zip up crate, put him in and tucked him safely from harm.
It wasn’t long after the dog was safe that he vomited what appeared to have been road kill. Oh, this poor little dog trying to survive on his own.
Once Faith returned home, she gave him a warm bath. The scars and open sores on his tiny body and head revealed the cruelty he had suffered in the past, but no doubt the bath felt soothing; his belly was full, and he was tucked into an oversized blanket.

I turned down that road for a reason
I have a heart of gratitude for a precious life saved
Many thanks to all the rescuers out there saving these frightened and abandoned dogs. Please share their stories – it gives us all reasons to smile.
