At the East Valley Animal Services in California, what a nine-year-old dog has endured for an unknown amount of time, has rescuers “dropping to their knees.” Meet Kirby – this sweet little senior who weighed 13.7 pounds when he entered the shelter, but whether his coat with all the debris, feces and urine had been shaved off, is not clear,

It is no surprise that Kirby was not neutered when he entered the shelter, and he has since been on the Blue Alert List asking for placement as soon as possible.

Here is what we know about this precious little guy. When he entered the shelter as a “stray” (DUMPED), he was so matted, he could barely move. He is missing most of his teeth and suffers from an ear infection.

Despite the pain Kirby must be in, he is extremely stoic and welcomed being shaved down without the use of sedation. By far, his willingness to be helped, is a testament to his wonderful character and disposition. He is described as “sweet, loving and good with other dogs.”

Sadly, it is not all rainbows and kisses for Kirby since he entered the shelter. He isn’t eating very well, and it very well could be because his mouth and earache are so painful. And now, the introduction to a noisy animal shelter with strangers all around must be as scary.

Kirby needs a veterinarian checkup to help. Doesn’t he deserve better than this?

Can we ALL please extend some kindness to Kirby; a dog who likely has been treated like trash all his life?

Let’s make sure our Kirby doesn’t continue to slip through the cracks and eventually disappear, all PROMISE for a second chance gone foreve
