Just about four months ago, Catherine’s Puppies, an animal rescue organization in Sai Kung, Hong Kong, saved an 18-month-old, chihuahua mix who had just given birth to three puppies. Dubbed Chloe, the young dog had been found a few days earlier heavily pregnant and missing her paw pads and claws on all four of her tiny legs.

To everyone’s horror, the veterinarian examining Chloe stated the dog had not been born without her paw pads or nails and either she had suffered from an accident or someone had done this on purpose.

They were at some point cut off by a person, not a vet…

When she first arrived at the rescue, Chloe was not able to put any weight on her left front leg, and she would possibly need surgery in the future to remove more of her leg if it became infected, but the expenses of running a rescue on barely any money, and then to think about the extra costs to help Chloe were just overwhelming to Catherine. Fortunately, the angels heard Catherine, and on her Facebook page, she asked for help. The photos of Chloe, her newborn puppies and the kindness of so many people helped out with expenses.

Weeks later – even more good news. Preeti Sharma, a mom of two, offered to foster Chloe and two of her puppies (the other one had already been adopted) and Chloe would join her family and another rescued dog – Ivy. Now Ivy is a senior dog with needs also – deaf, partially blind, has epilepsy and cancer, but to see these two get along is incredible.

I think Chloe finding a forever home with HK’s ‘most famous’ foster FAIL parent is too amazing not to share right away!!

Yep, Preeti Sharma has done it again!! She and her family have fallen madly in love with Chloe and will be keeping her.

We all know what somebody did to Chloe and are sickened by it. Her finding a wonderful home and being loved means the World and I can’t thank (Again) Preeti enough for making sure this little dog has an amazing future.

There is more… Now that Chloe can be desexed, she can also have her 3D scan at the same time for world class prosthetics. Preeti has pledged to help raise funds for this by doing a sponsored run. Just amazing!

When Chloe first arrived at the Sharma home, she was terrified of everyone. She wouldn’t let Preeti’s son touch her, leading everyone to believe it likely had been a man who had inflicted such pain on this innocent little dog. The only time Chloe would come anywhere near humans was when she saw her puppies. If anyone tried to get close to Chloe, she would close her eyes and cry.

With lots of patience and love, Chloe started to come around and found out there really are kind and loving humans.

And now there’s more good news. On the updates from Catherine’s Puppies, we find out that a special pair of boots for Chloe’s front legs have been ordered and are on the way from Sweden; due to arrive around Christmas Day. The pup uses her back legs and stands “like a kangaroo.”

CHLOE – NEW BOOTS FOR CHRISTMAS!

Seeing this little dog causes so many mixed emotions. Joy is the main one now as she’s so incredibly loved by her family, it literally radiates off them and she is just so happy and content.

It’s impossible though to not still feel rage, horror and sadness over what was done to her, that won’t ever change. This little dog visibly shook when a man walked into the vets reception/waiting room this morning, that’s how much she struggles in the presence of any male human. Awful, awful.

… we’ve gone ahead with ordering the special boots for her two front legs from Sweden. They should arrive before Christmas or just after. These boots are to balance and take pressure off her as even though she’s very mobile, without paws she’s basically using bone.

…Will update in the New Year how she’s doing on her new boots!
