Early last week, some heartless person abandoned their dog at a New York City subway station; leaving her in the rain for hours. The dog’s photo had been posted on an Instagram account, “NYC Free at the Curb” typically used for furniture and other household items find a new home – so maybe – why not a free puppy left at the curb in need?

It had been a woman on her way to work last Monday who took the photo of the sad looking pup tied up by a rope to the stairway at the Fulton Street subway station. And soon after, the woman posted the photo on the social media account And then fate seemed to have stepped right in.

Heather Hamm had made a New Year’s resolution to foster a dog, adopt one or volunteer with a local animal shelter, and then she saw the photo of the abandoned pittie when she opened up her Instagram account. She just knew this was the dog for her and jumped into a Lyft and headed to the subway station where police officers had been standing with the dog.

And I was just like ‘Can I have her?’

And the officers turned the friendly pup over to Heather, and it seemed as if the two fell in love with each other from the start.

One day later, the friendly pooch, estimated to be between six and nine months of age, has the name of Peaches, dons a pretty pink harness and received a clean bill of health from the veterinarian. Peaches did not have a microchip, and there was no video camera on the stairwell where the dog was tied.

Peaches accompanies Heather to work, loves meeting new people and even knows a few basic commands. And the best part – Peaches and Heather are the best of friends, and what a life this pup can look forward to with her loving human.

Peaches is the world’s ‘goodest’ girl!
