In Rome, Georgia, Floyd Felines and Friends, shared a story with their supporters about a young mother cat named Wisteria who desperately needed rescue on Wednesday morning.

Wisteria was not just another mother cat, however – this young feline had been viciously attacked by a dog. A Good Samaritan saw the cat huddled in a corner and initially could not figure out why the cat didn’t flee as the dog continued its attack. Five reasons became clear as soon as the woman managed to get the dog to run away; she realized the mother cat had been huddled over – protecting her five newborn kittens.

Wisteria was rushed to the organization’s partner veterinarian hospital where she would undergo surgery to repair the damage done to her body by the dog attack. And for hours, everyone held their collective breaths waiting to hear if Wisteria would survive.

Surgery was successful, and last night a volunteer fed the cat with a spoon because Wisteria was still too weak to maneuver around on her own.

This morning, volunteers were texting each other first thing for an update from whoever got there first. Then the pictures came. You could feel everyones’ hearts release joy after a long night of worrying.

Hopefully Wisteria will continue to recover. She does have a follow-up appointment with the veterinarian on Monday, and at that time he will be better able to evaluate her anticipated recovery. Everyone is hoping this brave mom continues to eat on her own, and the infection remains under control.

Donations are appreciated. Wisteria remains in critical care and her babies are with her.

  1. Please set up an Amazon wish list so we can buy the needed things for Wisteria and her family.

If she were in Washington state, I would love to foster her and adopt her. I miss my cats so much…….
