In Queensland, Australia, two dogs were found locked in “oven-like” temperatures in a car parked outside of a water park while their owners enjoyed the Wet’n’Wild Amusement Park.

Police were summoned to the Gold Coast’s park on Wednesday afternoon after being informed the dogs had been in the unattended vehicle since the morning. According to DailyMail, police were unable to find the owners inside of the park and decided to break the car’s window to rescue the dogs.

Good Samaritans had reported the dogs left in the vehicle to park officials who contacted the police. Calls were made over the park’s loudspeaker asking the dogs’ owners to return to their vehicle, but no one responded until after police broke into the car and rescued the dogs.

RSPCA Inspector Ben Newman stated the interior of the car was like an oven. Video footage of the distressing scene showed one of the dogs – a small Pomeranian breed, lying on its side on the back seat panting heavily. The other dog, a poodle was pulled out of the vehicle and given water.

After the dogs were removed from the vehicle, they were sent to a nearby veterinarian for heat stroke; both dogs are lucky to have survived.

No charges have been filed against the owners and the dogs were returned.

We gave them a slap on the wrist on this occasion as there’s no history of them offending previously
