Thrown away like trash: Bonded and loyal dogs snuggled together in the cold waiting for their family to return

In Watts, California, a rather odd couple snuggled together along the corner of the sidewalk; their frayed leashes cast aside as if they had been thrown away like trash. it had been cold last night, and the two kept each other warm and safe; one big girl and one little girl.

It’s not as if rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of  Logan’s Legacy 29, who arrived on Wednesday to help trap the dogs, had been surprised. The number of dogs being abandoned has exponentially increased, and each case is perhaps more heartbreaking than the next.

Dear friends, bonded and loyal. It was like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, or more like Thelma and Louise.

This rescue situation was different; in fact their desire to be saved and their willingness to come forward made Suzette smile. When she first arrived, the dogs were so happy; as if they were saying “someone finally came.” The two dogs – one pit bull mix and one Yorkshire terrier mix had been in the neighborhood for days, and no one in the area recognized either one of the dogs. Someone had just dropped them off to fend for themselves?

The tiny dog ran towards Suzette and was eager to be scooped up in the safe arms of her rescuer. And then the big girl just wanted to be with her friend. Suzette had no intention of leaving her behind.

I truly have not seen a bond quite like this before. It didn’t take long to have them together in my van. They wiggled their tails and were literally so happy with joy.

They looked at each other again and said “someone did come” with their eyes.

All the way home, the two snuggled close to each other, exhausted but making sure they could touch. They were eager to give kisses, be given some food and happily headed to the veterinarian for examinations, vaccinations and for any signs of identification. Both dogs are extremely sweet. The Yorkie is very matted, and the pittie has skin issues. All of this will one day be just a past memory for these two beautiful pups.
