In eastern Nebraska, a viral video shows a bizarre incident where officers from the Norfolk Police Division received a strange report about a man driving on Interstate 274 with an huge animal aboard riding in the passenger seat.

According to Captain Chad Reiman, officers originally thought the caller had been referencing a calf or some kind of animal that would have fit easily into the front seat of a vehicle. Imagine their chagrin, when officers spotted the Watusi bull named Howdy Doody riding shotgun in a vehicle driven by Lee Meyer of Neligh. Attached to the side of the vehicle was a sign that said “Nebraska’s BIG RODEO Parade Best Car Entry.”

Somehow this bull, who could realistically have weighed nearly 1,600 pounds was able to fit into the front seat, however admittedly there were some major alterations to the car made. The car’s body and windshield had been sawed off and a platform installed to accommodate Howdy Doody. (Kid you not!)

The officer did write up some warning citations which included asking the driver to take Howdy Doody back home and leave the city. The officer did note the bull had defecated over the back windshield of the car.

On the police organization’s Facebook page, one particular comment deserves a laugh and a smile:

This guy should know to steer clear of main roads when he mooving cattle around, otherwise a cop is bound to have beef with his operation.

  1. I am not surprised at all. I once tried to get one of our (then) colts into my SUV (no alterations to the car)……. He didn’t like it, so we used a friend’s horse trailer to transport him.
