In New York a man stabbed a leashed German shepherd/pitbull mix to death on Saturday, following an argument with the dog’s owner while walking in Central Park. The gravely injured dog was rushed to a local animal emergency hospital where the decision was made to humanely euthanize her due to the extent of her injuries.
According to the Daily News, an argument ensued between the man and the woman when the assailant’s unleashed dog attacked the woman’s dog. As the woman tried to separate the dogs, the man pulled out a switchblade and stabbed the woman’s shepherd/pittie mix named Eli.
The suspect had initially been seen walking his dog near 106th Street and East Drive; and after stabbing the woman’s dog, fled. The assailant has not been apprehended. An investigation is underway.
