In the Detroit area, motorists traveling westbound on I-94 slowed down to help save an injured German shepherd running in the middle of the busy highway.

According to WxyzDetroit, Good Samaritan, Debbie Allen had been on her way to work when she spotted the limping dog on the roadway, and immediately feared for its life. Debbie stopped her vehicle, jumped out and had been able to capture the dog and stayed with the pup close to the center divider keeping it safe from traffic.

Allen said she wasn’t the only person who had spotted the dog, and traffic literally came to a standstill as drivers waited for the dog to be secured. Because the dog was so frightened it initially ran away – Debbie not far behind, with the help of another motorist, was finally able to capture the pup and stayed with the dog until the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Humane Detroit arrived to help.

Debbie said the dog was well-fed, well groomed and well behaved, and it’s likely the dog escaped from its home or backyard. The dog is not microchipped, which makes finding its owners more difficult, but it everyone would help to find the owners, the dog can be reunited.

Many people have called Debbie a hero, but the modest dog-loving woman, who also has a dog of her own, said she was just “a human being.”

Many thanks Debbie. We think you are an angel too!
