Three of the four 2-month-old puppies found in a ditch are recovering at the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus in Saukville. Local police officers responded to a call after the puppies had been spotted running around in the area near the river in Mequon on Monday night.

One puppy was badly injured and was rushed to an emergency clinic where he had to be euthanized due to the extent of his injuries and body condition. The three surviving puppies are being treated for malnutrition and remain on a treatment plan to regain their health.

The puppies have been named Love Amar and Liebe and will remain on stray hold until February 19; no one has yet to come forward to claim the puppies.

On Friday, another puppy was found in the same area and brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society. He is very skinny, however his condition has been marked as stable. He has been named Brad and has been reunited with his littermates. The puppies are now lively and beginning to play with each other and their toys.

The puppies will be receiving up to three weeks of foster care before they will be ready to be adopted.
