In Nashville, Tennessee, authorities continue to investigate a deadly hit-and-run accident on Wednesday morning that killed a woman walking her dog. The vehicle involved has been described as a Ford F-150.

According to WsazNews, the 50-year-old visually impaired woman was struck and killed by an unknown person driving a pickup truck. A passerby saw the woman lying on the side of the road and called for emergency help. The woman was pronounced dead.

The woman’s dog, Patch was not injured and walked home by himself. When police arrived, Patch was sitting in front of his owner’s home waiting for her return. Patch is being cared for at the Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control, but authorities have yet to connect the woman’s family with the dog.

At this time, the shelter’s main concern is reuniting Patch with the woman’s family, and it is possible he is a certified service dog.
