The Liberty, Missouri Police Department posted a warning to anyone picking up a stray animal:
A word of advice…if you want to pick up the cute little kitten to pet it, make sure it is not a bobcat first!! They do bite and scratch

According to the police, the woman spotted the kitten and picked it up. The kitten, however wasn’t of the domestic kind – this little bundle of complete adorableness was actually a bobcat kitten, and was not please at all to be picked up. The kitten bit the woman on the thumb.
Although bobcat kittens are undeniably cute, as they get older they become more and more aggressive and unpredictable. There are ways to tell the difference. Bobcat kittens have spots in some form or another and usually have black tufts on their ears. If you have any doubts, contact your local veterinarian or wild animal rescue organization.
The woman was not seriously injured treated for her bite.
