In British Columbia, a tiny Yorkshire terrier named Coco, fought valiantly to escape from a bald eagle swooping down in the backyard of her home. The doorbell camera caught the terrifying moment the eight-month-old puppy had been scooped up in the talons of the eagle at the family’s home in Metlakatla, British Columbia on June 16.

According to CTVNews, as the eagle swooped down to grab the pup, Coco screamed and then disappeared off camera until suddenly she was seen again running up to the door.

Coco’s owner, Justin Dudoward told Storyful, he had no idea what was happening outside until he heard his daughter screaming and then spotted the dog running towards the door. Initially, Coco only seemed to have had some minor injuries on her stomach, but the next morning she was rushed to the veterinarian when a part of her intestines had been exposed.

Coco was one lucky little canine; her injuries healed within three days and she was soon back to running around in the backyard as if “nothing ever happened.”

Now that’s one feisty little Yorkie. Wouldn’t you agree?

  1. Very lucky puppy. However the family MUST only let her out into the backyard on a short lead with human accompaniment. Or they can train her to use “pee pads” inside the house. Or they can build a roofed kennel with a locked door so she has “running around space” under human supervision. The next time the eagle stalks this puppy, this puppy might not be so lucky…….

We live next to a state park with lots of wildlife. We have a custom built outdoor kennel with a roof and locked door so the numerous birds of prey can’t get our tiny furbabies. They are only allowed in the kennel under our direct supervision. We NEVER allow them to run around the yard. They also use “pee pads”…….
