When an urgent call from the San Antonio Police Department was received asking for help, Animal Care Officer Prescott from the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services rushed out the door to the reported address. When he arrived, Officer Prescott saw seven San Antonio Fire Department trucks along with police cars and motorcycles.
According to Animal Care, a family’s home was on fire, and there were reports that several pets had fled the burning home when the front door had been opened.. The officer searched the area and found two adult dogs and two puppies.
The four dogs were transported to the San Antonio Animal Care Services for emergency housing and examined by the veterinary team for possible smoke inhalation. All of the dogs appeared healthy, and were cared for until the family could be notified and reunited with their pets. The dogs and their puppies stayed in the education office as a quiet place where they could all rest.
Two days later, the family arrived where the two families were happily reunited. The mother dog ran into her dad’s arms the moment she spotted him. The happy puppies wiggled in delight and licked their humans all over their faces.
Many thanks to the San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and the officers and staff at San Antonio Animal Care Services for helping this family to safety and saving their precious four-legged friends.
