A dog named Jax is still smiling, despite losing his home and winding up at an animal shelter in Caldwell, Idaho. The three-year-old dog was surrendered to the West Valley Humane Society by an owner who stated that they were unable to care for him anymore.

The shelter provided some information about the Chihuahua blend:

Jax has not been walked on a leash, so he is learning quickly. He will do best on a harness. He does like to play with toys and is said to ride well in a car. He will need regular brushing.

Jax will need an indoor home and a secure containment plan to stay safe from wandering.

Adding:

Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be important. Jax has shown friendly interest in other dogs at the shelter, but we do always recommend a staff-assisted meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along. We do not know how he would do with cats.
