Owners failed their dog going through divorce after dumping their pup at high kill shelter

What could be sadder than watching a couple fight and file for divorce without figuring out how to provide for their dog, even though the relationship as husband and wife no longer worked? The ex-wife dumped the dog at the shelter, and the husband – the owner of the dog, is living in a hotel and cannot claim the dog. Ganja had no say, no rights, no time to say goodbye, and another brokenhearted dog just hides in the corner of his shelter cage at Riverside County Animal Control.

Of course, we all know that couples break up all the time, but try explaining this to Ganja, a five-year-old bully breed who was adopted from the shelter just two years ago.

An advocate for Ganja was able to speak with the previous owner and had this information to offer:

…he said Ganja is better off with the female dog he did live with a Queensland heeler. He would like to be able to get his dog back if he could find a place to live but going through a divorce and is staying in a hotel right now. He’s potty trained. Super friendly with people. The only issue he ever had was when he ran out the front door when the wife was home and there was a male pitbull walking by with the owner on a leash, he ran out the front door being protective. But there wasn’t a technical fight or anything he just ran out the front door. But didn’t get out.

  3. I just found out from the shelter that he has been euthanized due to injuries. Which is an indication that the dog they decided to kennel him with injured him.
He was euthanized due to his injuries. Not happy to hear this new. Rest In Peace Ganja.
    You didn’t deserve this 🙁
