Greene County, VA – Shelter staff is heartbroken for a dog named Lucky who finds himself cast aside by his adoptive family. The hound mix was adopted, but his family brought him back to the Greene County Animal Shelter of Virginia after he got too big.
The staff is hurting for his loss, writing:
Our heart hurts so much for Lucky as he is struggling to be a shelter dog once again…….Over a month back at our shelter and not one single interest in you can be rough…..
Explaining how Lucky came to be back in their care:
Lucky was adopted from our shelter March 2021 as a beagle mix puppy. Lucky’s family adored him so much, but with the size he grew to be it became more than they could handle. We all thought Lucky was a beagle mix and would stay a medium size dog. Lucky has grown to be more of a hound mix.
The shelter hopes that everyone will share Lucky’s information, and help him find a loving new home. They outline his attributes:
Lucky is needing each of you to share him with your friends and family in hopes he finds a family who can handle his size. Lucky is truly a big sweetheart and thinks he is a lap dog. Lucky walks very well on leash. Lucky loves being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air. Lucky’s previous family said he is good with kids, but smaller kids he has too much energy for them.
They add:
We were also told Lucky is good with both dogs and cats. Lucky needs each of you to help him find happiness again by being loved by a family. Please take time to share this handsome hound. We reopen tomorrow 10-2 and Saturday 10-3 to meet Lucky. Lucky’s adoption fee is $95 cash or check.
