On Thursday afternoon in Southwest Houston, an eight-month-old Great Pyrenees had a scary experience when he fell into a sinkhole and became stuck in the mud. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan spotted the pup and called for help.

According to the Houston SPCA, the puppy couldn’t get out of the hole because he seriously injured his leg. The shelter’s animal rescue ambulance was dispatched, and the puppy was pulled to safety and taken to the SPCA Animal Medical Center. His injured leg was cleaned and treated.

It is hoped the owner of the Great Pyrenees will come forward to claim their puppy within the specified holding period. If not, he will go to the shelter and be available for adoption.

If you see an injured animal or one in distress, please call 713-880-4357.
