Police in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, are hoping that a member of the public can identify a man who was recently captured on home surveillance video kicking, dragging, and beating a dog. On May 3, the authorities posted several screen grabs from a homeowner’s Ring video, writing:

Please help us identify the individual or the dog from this April 13th Animal Cruelty incident
in the 100 Block of Lavender Road. Additionally, we are asking residents of the area to review their security cameras for any footage of the individual or dog around the time of the incident, approximately 9:17 AM on April 13th.

The video shows a man dragging a black and white dog, kicking the pup, and hitting it as well. As reported by WSB-TV, the dog had been seen running loose on a roadeway earlier the same day. Sherry Sanderson, a local veterinarian, tells the news agency:

“I think that when the guy got the dog back, he didn’t realize that he was on camera, that his abuse was caught on a Ring camera,”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Thomas 762-400-7359 or [email protected].
