In Katy, Texas, Sherry Noppe had been missing for days, and an intense search had been going on, but a “group of tireless volunteers and deputies were alerted by the sound of her dog Max, barking in the woods.”
According to Harris County Precinct 5, authorities stated Noppe, 63, was found safe on Friday morning in George Bush Park. She had been missing since Tuesday after walking her black Labrador retriever Max, and had been seen on a security camera walking towards Sparrows Ridge Drive. Noppe was found several miles from where she had been spotted.
Noppe suffers from a mild form of dementia and left the house on Tuesday without her cell phone. She appeared unharmed when found and was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical checkup. Eyewitnesses stated Sherry was talkative but cold and covered in mud. She had been lying in a marshy area close to the main trail.
It’s a small miracle that she has been found alive after being missing for so long. Our concern now is getting her out of the woods and to a hospital for a medical evaluation. Family and friends are crediting Max for helping to save Sherry. He had stayed with her and because he barked, rescuers were able to pinpoint where she was. And now Max is back home resting up.
