A Staten Island man is facing repercussions for his dismal treatment of 24 huskies who were found living in deplorable conditions at an empty lot in Tompkinsville. As reported by the New York Post, 54-year-old Victor Quinteros has pleaded not guilty to “dozens of charges” stemming from the discovery of badly neglected dogs who were living inside of, and under, two trailers on the property.

The dogs, 16 adults and seven puppies, were suffering in trailers with little to no airflow; the trailers were strewn with urine and feces. One puppy did not survive the neglect.

The water found on the property was filthy and the food for the dogs had maggots in it.

Quinteros told the authorities who raided the property that he ran an animal rescue. The dogs are now in the care of the ASPCA, but Quintero has not given up custody yet.

District Attorney Michael McMahon stated:

This defendant neglected to provide basic needs for twenty-four huskies under his care, choosing to heartlessly leave these beautiful creatures in deplorable and unsafe conditions without access to enough food or water.”
