Handsome Mayfield at risk of being put down in Texas

A handsome dog dubbed Mayfield is at risk of losing his life at a busy Texas animal shelter. The six-year-old Belgian Malinois mix was taken in at the San Antonio Animal Care Services facility earlier this month – he was picked up as a stray but nobody has come forward to claim him as their own.

The SAPA Urgents & Adoptables Facebook page has alerted the public that Mayfield is in danger of being put down:

THIS DOG IS IN ACS KENNELS & AT RISK OF BEING KILLED. SHELTER EVALUATES SPACE AT: 9:30am Mon-Sat, and again at 5 pm Mon-Fri & 3 pm Sat, or at any time as space is needed.

Mayfield is in the prime of his life and he appears to be healthy (heartworm negative, clear eyes and a normal coat). He definitely should not be looking at a premature demise.
