In Southwest Ranches, Florida, a horse had some help from firemen and volunteers after she wound up in a canal and wasn’t able to get back on safe ground Wednesday morning. The mare’s owner, Ricardo Alonzo, was scared for his horse’s life after seeing her stuck in the pond.

According to Local10News, Alonzo and first responders with Davie Fire Rescue arrived quickly to help Daisy get out of the water before she drowned.

The pond that’s here, probably 10 to 15 feet deep. It had a very deep shoreline, so the horse was unable to get out.

Daisy seemed to have kept her cool while the rescuers threw ropes and were able to herd her into a corner. The entire rescue operation took hours until finally Daisy was able to be led up to the shoreline. Surprisingly, the mare only suffered minor injuries and has quickly been recuperating after having been checked out by a veterinarian.

The second best news of the day – after Daisy’s hooves were solidly on ground. Yes, she was reunited with her baby.
