San Diego County, CA – Officials are seeking help from the public in a case of felony animal cruelty involving two dogs who were abandoned in Buena Vista Lagoon in Oceanside. According to the San Diego Humane Society, a Public Works employee found two emaciated dogs near a soft shipping container, huddled beneath shrubs, on Oct. 18, 2022.

Humane agents rushed the dogs for emergency care, but one dog died in the agent’s arms. The other dog was determined to be suffering so much that humane euthanasia was necessary.

The animal welfare agency is hopeful that someone will recognize one or both of the dogs and come forward with information to assist officials with the investigation. The agency said:

Our Humane Law Enforcement hopes that someone may recognize the dogs or may have seen something that can assist our investigating officers.
San Diego Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case. If anyone has information, tips can be reported through an anonymous line at 888-580-8477 or at sdcrimestoppers.org.

  1. Totally heartbreaking. The POS who abandoned these precious treasures has a reserved space in the hottest part of Hell to burn forever for their cruelty. Here’s hoping for an 18 wheeler to help him get to Hell that much faster…..
