A dog named Peeves has been waiting a long time for someone to take her home. The three-year-old Labrador retriever mix is one of the longest residents at the Idaho Humane Society, despite the best efforts of shelter staff to find a home that she will be suited to.

On Thursday, the animal shelter posted images of Peeves, writing of her predicament:

Every once in a while a dog comes along that you know needs a very special home. Peeves is one of those dogs and has been one of our longest residents here at the shelter. Despite our best efforts, this poor girl just can’t seem to find a home that can meet her needs. She has a lot of great qualities that would make her a fabulous companion. She is the sweetest girl who loves people more than anything! She has even done well living with children. She loves to take long walks and does very well as a passenger on car rides.

Peeves is described as smart, trained, and affectionate…but she has some qualities that are hindering her efforts to find a forever home. Her biography indicates that she does not want to share her people, so a home without other pets is necessary. She is also known to get “excitable” around other dogs and she can become anxious and destructive is she is distressed – requiring a patient person who will be willing to work with her.
