A 74-year-old man has allegedly admitted shooting and killing his neighbor’s dog in Fort Kent, Maine. Harold Thibeault, confessed he shot Moose, a three-year-old blue nose pit bull late last week.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Fort Kent Police Chief Michael DeLena stated Thibeault has been charged with animal cruelty. Moose’s body was discovered in the yard outside of his family’s home on Friday by his owner, Dr. Alexandra Roberts, a family physician and obstetrician at a local hospital. Dr. Roberts left work early after her nanny called and said Moose was nowhere to be found. Moose had been shot in the chest.

Roberts and her friend Kellie Jandreau launched a social media plea asking for help finding the heartless person responsible for such a heinous act.

UPDATED FROM ALI Thank you to everyone you shared and sent in videos. The police were able to put pressure on an individual and he confessed. I will release his name and photo once I have his ID confirmed. The police said he would not have been apprehended if it wasn’t for the community coming together to share information and camera footage. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you.

Update: we retrieved a pellet and he was thought to be shot with a high powered pellet gun. If anyone knows who in the area has something like this, come forward!

We will be offering a substantial award for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Thibeault faces a fine up to $2,000 and a year in prison. Animal cruelty is a Class D misdemeanor. More charges could be forthcoming.

  1. Disgusting.

Love to dispose of this useless POS by shooting it………. It is living in public housing and has NO rights to harm others (people or animals)……… if Moose were one of my furbabies I would borrow my friends’ gun & no more POS problem…….. plenty of people deserve help and to be in public housing. This POS clearly has no value in our society and does not deserve help of any kind……….

The punishment does NOT fit the crime and the book should be thrown at it…….

  2. Moose, you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.

The useless POS who murdered you has a reserved space in the hottest part of Hell to burn forever for its cruelty. Hope it gets to Hell ASAP (totally evil and NO redemption)…..
