Dog mauled at boarding facility

Woman devastated after her dog was fatally mauled at boarding facility

A Florida woman is devastated after her beloved dog was fatally mauled at a boarding facility in Gulf Breeze. Mylania Wilson took her Pekingese, Mimi, to the April Shower’s Pet Grooming business before Thanksgiving and learned on Monday that her 10-pound dog had been critically injured by another dog, reported NWF Daily News.

Mimi ultimately succumbed to the devastating injuries and Wilson is angry that her little dog was allowed to be in an area with large dogs – especially since she specifically left instructions with the staff that her toothless dog was unable to defend herself and needed to be kept separate.

Nobody appears to know which dog attacked Mimi – which leads Wilson to believe that the dogs were not being supervised. She has created a petition asking for the business to be closed for negligence – read more at this link.

Deformed dog or not? Strange photo is driving people crazy! I’ll admit, this one took me awhile to figure out.

        My Forever Pet

        There’s something
        missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,

        I know it will take
        time and strength before
        things feel quite right.

        But just for now,
        I need to mourn,
My heart– it needs to mend.

        Though some may say,
        “It’s just a pet,”
        I know I’ve lost a friend.

        You’ve brought such
        laughter to my home,
        and richness to my days.

        A constant friend
        through joy or loss
        with gentle, loving ways.

        Companion, friend,
        and confidante,
        A friend I won’t forget.

You’ll live forever in my heart,
        My sweet, forever pet.

        If I Should Go Tomorrow

        If I should go tomorrow
        It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
        So don’t you ever cry.
The love that’s deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You’ll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars.

Miss Me, But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little, but not for long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go!
For this a journey we all must take,
        And each must go alone;
It’s all a part of the master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me, but let me go.

        I’m Still Here

Friend, please don’t mourn for me
I’m still here, though you don’t see.
I’m right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I’m always near.
I’m everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I’ll never wander out of your sight-
I’m the brightest star on a summer night.
I’ll never be beyond your reach-
I’m the warm moist sand when you’re at the beach.

I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I’m the beautiful flowers of which you’re so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I’m the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you’ll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there’s no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I’m the smile you see on a baby’s face.
Just look for me, friend, I’m everyplace!

The business need to be shut down! Knowing there are big dogs, and to allow the big dogs unleashed with the little dogs they are putting the small dogs at risk and therefore this facility should not be allowed to be in business in the first place! The staff are incompetent and no brain! It is common sense to not mix the big and the small unless maybe if there is someone watching them, or being supervised at all times. This is a tragedy, and I would sue their ass big time if this happens to my dogs as I have 6 so they can’t do it to any other innocent dogs anymore.

How does a boarding facility with instructions not to leave this woman’s small, toothless dog with any big dogs, did they ignore her specified instructions? Careless workers and place should be closed. I wouldn’t take my animal there even overnight stay. All it took was one big dog to clamp down on this tiny, toothless animal who couldn’t even defend herself. Nothing they do will bring this dog back, but they need to pay for whatever expenses this woman incurred.

The picture of MiMi is heartbreaking! And yes they should be sued because sometimes that is what needs to be done to evoke change and to get this kind of negligent facility is shut down! Not only were these dogs obviously not supervised they blatantly ignored MiMi’s owners instructions and there is no fixing this mistake! This story has me outraged and heartbroken! And it sounds like MiMi’s Mom did not get to be with her beloved fur baby when she died! This place MUST be held accountable for this horror!! ????????❤️RIP PRECIOUS MIMI❤️????????

What an irresponsible groomer. I hope that place gets sued and/or shut down. My heart foes out to Mimi’s mom (Mylania Wilson).

This is unacceptable, you pay good money to leave your pets with supposedly responsible people! This is NOT responsible actions, and since no one even knows which dog did it, it’s apparent the lack of supervision at this facility is nonexistent. They need to be sued and shut down so these irresponsible people don’t let this happen again. My condolences to Mylania Wilson for her loss of Mimi like this. I can’t imagine losing one of my precious babies like this and trust me if I did I would do everything in my power to make them pay. It won’t bring Mimi back but hopefully no other pup will lost their life.

Apparently April Showers Dog Grooming is severely lacking in the care of any animal left there – the employees did not supervise Mimi and left her to be attacked by larger dogs – she was defenseless – this place is a disgrace and if I were Mimi’s owner I would sue the pants off of the owners. You expect a boarding facility to be a place where your animal will be safe – not a April Showers – they are incompetent.

Mylania, I have gone back to this story several times and if that picture is Mimi, I pray she felt no pain, but was in deep shock, which hopefully blocked out the pain nerves. My prayers go out to you because my husband and I think about something like this happening a lot. We just adopted a small dog in April (all our previous dogs were medium size), so a small dog was to say the least, quite different. She was a NYC shelter dog who could be euthanized at any time, and we were the lucky ones to get her.Took her a while to get use to us and our routine, but we love her so much that we always make sure we are with her even when in the yard. All it takes is one careless worker to cause a tragedy like this.Workers in facilities like this need to look at the animals in their care as if they were their own pet. Maybe they would not have things like this happen because one day it could be their pet who is killed.

Since Mimi was hurt enough to be killed, there should be blood on another dog there. Unless the owners of the business know which dog did it because they washed the blood off the culprit. Somebody there knows something! Find out!
