Friendly, surrendered dog bypassed time and again for stupid reason

A friendly dog, who seems to like most everyone and everything that he meets, is being bypassed time and again for one utterly stupid reason – he is a large “black” dog. Like it or not, black dogs have a much harder time getting adopted than dogs who aren’t black.

Legend Reyes lost his former home because his family’s landlord said that he had to go – on January 31, the young Labrador retriever mix was walked into the Baldwin Park Animal Services facility in California and he was handed over to strangers.

Legend Reyes has so much going for him – he is young, healthy, neutered, knows many commands and he is friendly. All that he needs is for someone to look past his coloring and see the terrific dog that he is, and the amazing companion that he could be.

Please help this overlooked dog get his big break by taking a moment to share his adoption information. Petharbor link for Legend Reyes here. Los Angeles County Animal Control – Baldwin Park at (626) 962-3577

I love black dogs, especially labs! All my dogs are black, their fur just shines and glistens in the sun. Remember black is beautiful! Don’t let the color of a dog put you off, the personality is what is important!

How sad and also ridiculous because he’s a black dog. Hoping the best for Legend Reyes to get a loving and secure home.

I volunteer in shelters and it’s true, the black ones seem to get overlooked! For the life of me I just don’t understand why!

It is beyond comprehension that people would reject a black dog. I have never seen that happen. Our local park, which allows off-leash activity during certain hours, is FULL of black dogs.

Black dogs are beautiful, but its true that black dogs are often overlooked for whatever reason. My neighbor went to a rescue org. that had puppies up for adoption. When he arrived at the rescue, there were many people already there waiting to adopt the puppies. Among all the puppies, there was only one black puppy. By the time he finished the paperwork, all the puppies were taken except for the little black pup. Of course, he adopted the black puppy. Even black puppies get overlooked!
