Dog shot at point blank range

Authorities search for whoever shot dog point blank in the face

A dog, apparently shot at point blank range in the face, was found in South Bend, Indiana. Local authorities are searching for the person(s) responsible for the cruel act of violence.

According to the South Bend Animal Care and Control (SBACC), the chocolate colored, female pit bull was found on Saturday. She was suffering from “clear signs of abuse,” including a gunshot wound inside of her mouth – the bullet traveled into her shoulder.

Tragically, the injuries were determined to be too severe for the abused dog to survive and she was humanely euthanized, reported WSBT News.

SBACC is hoping that someone will recognize this dog and come forward with information that will help the authorities solve the crime. The animal-welfare agency provided information about where the dog was found:

Does anyone recognize this sweet girl? She came in on Saturday with clear signs of abuse and was located in the Medora/Wilber/Anderson/King street area

The agency added:

A police report has been filed and ballistics will be run on the recovered bullet. We ask that anyone with information please contact us or SBPD reference incident # 17-105909.

Once the shooter is found, do the exact same thing to him, and if he survives, put him in jail forever. How can anyone do this to any animal? Soul less person and needs to be away from other humans (which he is not).

Do we get to shoot this POS in the face, point blank, when he is found??? Unless we start doing to these low-life’s, the same thing that they do to these animals, it will never stop. Damn plea deals and “human rights” crap, There is nothing HUMAN about someone who does this. This has to stop. Too many family members are being murdered.

Why did they need to euth her? Dogs get better everyday, just put forth some effort to save her life, she would have appreciated that!

Last week in South Bend, the groundhog neighbors and I had been watching and feeding for 6 plus years was shot and murdered. I called and was told to call the DNR. Apparently, it is alright to shoot groundhogs. Now it’s an innocent dog that is killed. There are crazy people out there who have no respect for any animal. Unless ALL KILLINGS are investigated and punished (not in the haphazardly way it is done now), and the crazies punished with major prison time. ..this will continue and get worse. …serial killers in training.

Omg wish I could print what I would do to the person that did this. Would not be nice and the MF would suffer extreme pain daily for a week before humanely euthanizing him

WTF! The dog needed to be put down my ass! What you meant to say is it was gonna cost some money and as we know, vets have no mercy when it comes to being paid! Smdh

Pam, You said it all. City needs to pay for helping abuse victims. Courts are not helping much by passing down slap on the wrist sentencing. Abusers need to pay all bills though the courts even if it means taking abusers home or car.or business.

Well said, the courts should make these abusers pay for all the vet bills that the poor dog incurs. Maybe it would curtail some of this if people were actually held responsible with a meaningful punishment and not just the usual slap on the wrist!
