Man who stole car and killed dog sentenced to prison

A man who stole a vehicle in Portland, Oregon, and caused the death of a dog who was in the car at the time, has been sentenced to prison. According to Wednesday’s KOIN 6 News, 35-year-old Francisco Vincent Gonzalez has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison (with credit for time already served) for the incident in April which claimed the life of a dog named “Kona.”

Gonzalez faced numerous charges for the incident, including: animal abuse, animal neglect, ID theft, theft, possession of meth and animal abandonment.

Kona, a three-year-old Labrador retriever mix, belonged to Bill Robbins; the dog was inside of Robbins’ vehicle when Gonzalez got in and drove away on April 7.  Gonzalez later abandoned the vehicle with Kona still inside…she died before anyone found her.

Before sentencing, Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from the April incident.

All those charges and all he gets is 2.5 years in prison? Please someone tell me that is a type o and it’s supposed to be 25 years! When will judges start taking this sort of thing seriously? I would think stealing a car and drug possession should have garnered a longer sentence, we all know Judges don’t care a hoot about our pets!!!!! This is disgusting!
