The Pennsylvania dog breeder who allowed a puppy dubbed “Libre” to fall so critically ill that he nearly died, has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, reported Monday’s ABC 27 News. Libre, a Boston terrier puppy who was suffering from multiple ailments, had been neglected for at least a month at the Lancaster puppy mill operated by 33-year-old Benjamin S. Stoltzfus.
Stoltzfus admitted that he had ignored Libre’s deteriorating health and had left him in a kennel, believing that the puppy would die. Libre was rescued on July 4th by Speranza Animal Rescue, after a good Samaritan brought the pup to an emergency veterinarian.
Under the care of staff at Dillsburg Veterinary Center, Libre has made incredible strives towards recovery. On Sunday, Speranza Animal Rescue posted a Facebook update about the rescued puppy:

I think a lot of it is those Religious sects , Amish, and what other ones are there… They are the puppy millers and get by with that too!!!
They took my Grampa to the Hospital, from his ranch, which he worked everyday. 365 acres, just him and Blue dog. Blue waited about a month for him to return, he never did. But in that month Blue herded the sheep and pigs liked he was supposed to, then just disappeared………..
OMG! Libre sure looks different. And so very happy. More than I can say for me. What a joke of a punishment. The wicked lady from the SPCA paid for her negligence by losing her job. The actual villain that ADMITS he left Libre to die get practically a slap on the wrist. I bet that this wasn’t the first time he did this. No one busted him before. But will he do it again.???? Chances are, we will never know. Gotta love the injustice system.
If I remember correctly, this breeder surrendered the mother dog that was in bad shape too. He needs to be put out of business!
That POS should have been jailed and made to pay all the Vet costs! Again a puppy miller gets away with a slap on the wrist. Please tell me he has been shut down at least!
He should at least have to pay ALL of Libre’s medical expenses .

i don’t care if the guy was Amish or not – he’s NOT above the law. If they live in this country, then they need to abide by our laws. He should have been fined a WHOLE lot more than the $904.97, and he should have been given time behind bars. DO THE CRIME, DO THE TIME, even if you’re Amish. The judge in this case is an idiot who has no business being on the bench.

THEY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE ENTIRE AMOUNT OF THE COST INVOLVED IN RESCUING LIBRE … PLUS 25% OVER TO SAVE ANOTHER DOG !!! AND, NOT BE ALLOWED TO BREED DOGS !!!!!! IF LETTING THE PUPPY SUFFER BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO DIE ANYHOW !! NOT GOOD JUDGEMENT !!
That poor little dog went to hell and back because of that imbecile it is a disgrace that he just got a slap on the wrist he should have been hung drawn and quarterd for what he did and the judge should be ashamed of himself grrrrrrr
