A heartwarming rescue on Wednesday by Stray Rescue of St. Louis has captured the hearts of dog lovers everywhere. Perhaps the sweetest young dog one ever had the privilege of meeting, had the right idea. Outside of the boarded apartment house where she may have lived some time in the past, she found a place to wait for help. It was an old discarded mattress, and there she patiently stayed; curled up in a little ball, but her eyes were wide open – patiently waiting and watching for her miracle.

And there she was. Someone had called the organization about a homeless pup, and when volunteers arrived, the pup’s tail just wouldn’t stop wagging.

the second we met her her, her tail just won’t stop; she’s such a happy girl. she’s uncomfortable and suffers from demodex mange, but thankfully, this is a non-contagious mange.

Facebook via Stray Rescue of St. Louis

Her name is Blush, and she is currently being treated for her skin issues. She is in need of a medical rescue foster home where she will be needing a medicated bath every three days. All supplies will be supplied by the rescue.

Yes, Blush is safe, and everyone is excited to see how she will look once the redness of her skin subsides and her coat grows back both shiny and healthy.

Please reach out if you can foster. Please serious inquiries only. Sharing her story will help.

Don’t leave this page until you check out her video. Just watching that happy smile with that tail doing double time wagging is worth the time:

Starving dog left tethered to a bus stop sign on shelter’s list to be put to sleep

At the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services, officers responded to an emergency call on Saturday, referencing an emaciated dog tethered with a chain to a bus stop sign. When they arrived, they found a scared and skinny dog. Officers removed the chain and transported her to the shelter for proper care. She had been at that exact spot, tied up, thirsty and so vey hungry for three days.

her owner abandoned her… they left her tied up to a pole by a bus stop. This precious girl stood in the heat for who knows how long with no access to food or water.

Volunteer Facebook post

Scared dogs are too often just passed over in a shelter, even though they can thrive and become wonderful companions and pets if given a chance. Tragically, this two-year-old shepherd blend is scheduled to be euthanized today, (just 3 days after she was discovered), and it is hoped sharing her plight will spare her life.

Meet Bemo; she is at the shelter and eating regularly, however she is still very frightened of her environment and the people around her. She will take treats that are tossed her way, but is not yet comfortable walking on a leash and is afraid to leave her kennel.

Because she is so frightened, Bemo needs a calm and quiet environment along with a patient, experienced person to help her open up and show her she can truly trust people.

At this time, Bemo has just given up; she has curled up on the cement floor of her kennel cage as if waiting to die. Please share her story with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

Kansas City rescue fought for recovery of dog shot with crossbow

Spread the love

In Kansas City, Missouri, a local animal rescue organization, KC Pet Project, rallied around a canine survivor in desperate need of care. The dog, named Artemis by shelter staff, was brought in after being discovered with a crossbow bolt lodged in its side.

On April 20th, the Animal Services Department responded to a call from a local mail carrier who had encountered a distressed dog during his route. He reported that the dog had been injured by a bow and arrow and was in danger of bleeding out. Animal Services Officers were dispatched and arrived at the scene to find a female dog with a severe wound. The dog was discovered lying on a futon on the porch with an arrow lodged in her side.

The injured dog was transported to KC Pet Project, where she was immediately admitted to the organization’s veterinary clinic. The clinic staff performed emergency surgery to remove the arrow, which was determined to be from a crossbow. The procedure was intricate; the dog had lost quite a bit of blood, thus requiring the arrow to be carefully removed in multiple pieces.

Due to the incredible work performed in the vet clinic, Artemis, is alive and healing. This amazing collaboration between departments saved Artemis’s life, however, the work is not done.

Artemis was deliberately shot with a crossbow by a member of the community, and anyone with information is asked to assist in an ongoing investigation. Artemis was found in the Washington-Wheatley neighborhood of Kansas City.

If you have any information that may assist authorities in the investigation, please call the Cruelty TIPS Hotline or file a report online at https://kcpetproject.org/…/animal-cruelty-and-neglect…/

To support the lifesaving efforts of the veterinary clinic, please click here.

The outpouring of support from the community has been heartwarming. Since the story broke, donations poured in, exceeding initial expectations. Local businesses also stepped forward, offering food, supplies, and even free grooming services for the dog once he recovered.

Artemis is now available for adoption:

In a heartening display of community vigilance, two teenagers in the Pee Dee region of Florence, South Carolina have been arrested on animal cruelty charges. The arrests stem from a disturbing video circulating on social media that depicted the abuse of an animal.

According to the South Carolina Game Wardens, the video had been shared on Snapchat and showed a young opossum being sprayed with a flammable substance and then set on fire, chased, kicked and stomped upon in the yard. A subsequent photo showed the animal after the attack.

The video, which quickly gained traction online, sparked outrage and prompted viewers to contact the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Authorities immediately launched an investigation, utilizing the footage to identify the suspects. Thankfully, their efforts proved successful, leading to the apprehension of two individuals, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old.

The severity of the act is reflected in the charges the teens now face – both are being held on felony counts. Both teens face charges of felony ill treatment of an animals, and the case has been referred to the Florence County Solicitors Office and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of speaking up against animal cruelty. The swift response by the community and law enforcement demonstrates a collective intolerance for such acts.

Here at Pet Rescue Report, we applaud the efforts of everyone involved in bringing these individuals to justice. We urge anyone who witnesses animal abuse to report it immediately to the proper authorities. Together, we can create a safer and more compassionate environment for all animals.

Have you seen Wally? Emotional support alligator missing in Georgia

1
Spread the love

The hearts of animal lovers everywhere are sinking as Wally, the internet-famous emotional support alligator, who became a viral sensation last year, has vanished without a trace. Wally’s owner, Joie Henney, reported him missing after their vacation in Brunswick, Georgia on April 21st.

While alligators are not uncommon sights in the Sunshine State, Wally hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he is a beloved and registered emotional support animal. Known for his gentle demeanor and love of belly rubs, Wally’s disappearance has sparked a nationwide search.

Where Could Wally Be?

Rumors swirl about Wally’s whereabouts. Some speculate he may have been spooked and wandered off into the nearby marshlands. Others, including Henney himself, fear Wally may have been stolen. Due to permitting issues, Henney initially hesitated to report Wally missing, but his primary concern is his gator’s safety.

A Call to Action

The search for Wally is gaining momentum. Henney, along with local authorities and animal welfare organizations, are scouring the Brunswick area. Social media has become a powerful tool, with Wally’s story and picture spreading rapidly.

i want to thank everyone for their support and their concern. Wally is very important to me as well as to a lot of other people that he makes happy and puts joy in their hearts.

Joie Henney on Facebook

If You Have Information

If you have any information regarding Wally’s whereabouts, please contact the Brunswick County Animal Control department immediately. Henney is offering a reward for Wally’s safe return, no questions asked.

According to Wally’s Facebook page, it has been alleged Wally “was stolen by some jerk who likes to drop alligators off into someone’s yard to terrorize them.” Officers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources had been notified by a homeowner about a gator in their yard, and unaware that it was Wally, trapped him and dropped him in a swamp along with other gators.

the swamp is very large and the trapper said the chances of them finding wally is slim to none.

Joie

This unusual case highlights the growing trend of emotional support animals and the unique challenges they present. While Wally’s story may be heartwarming, it also serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and proper permitting when traveling with exotic animals.

Wally claimed his fame as the only emotional support alligator and had been a finalist in America’s Favorite Pet competition. Joie had adopted Wally from a gator rescue in Florida after losing three family members and four close friends. His doctor wanted to put him on antidepressants, but Wally just did things no one else has ever seen a gator able to do.

Alligators can not be safely returned to the wild and especially Wally, who had bonded with Joie. Photos of the gator lying on his shoulder and following Joie around like a puppy, has amazed everyone, including alligator rescues and zoos alike.

Here’s hoping for Wally’s safe return. We’ll continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.

One-of-a-kind puppy seeks family: Bella the five-legged wonder at Wisconsin Humane Society

0
Spread the love

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is searching for a loving home for an exceptional canine – Bella, a six-month-old puppy with a remarkable twist. Bella isn’t your average pup; she possesses an extremely rare medical condition called Dimelia, causing her to have what appears to be an “extra leg” on her right hind leg.

Doubling the Love: Bella’s Dimelia

Dimelia is characterized by the duplication of bones. In Bella’s case, x-rays revealed an extra femur, two tibias, two fibulas, and a whopping nine toes on her rear paw! WHS states they’ve never encountered a case like Bella’s in their 145-year history, and she’s likely one of very few documented instances of canine Dimelia ever.

Despite her unique anatomy, Bella doesn’t let anything slow her down. The WHS reports she gets around with enthusiasm and enjoys playing just like any other pup.

A Forever Home for a Special Soul

While Bella’s additional limb doesn’t hinder her mobility, finding the perfect forever home is crucial. WHS seeks an adopter who can shower Bella with love and provide any future veterinary care she may need.

Bella’s story is truly special. We know the perfect match for bella is out there, someone who will celebrate her unique qualities and give her all the love she deserves.

Open Your Heart to a Five-Legged Miracle

If you’re looking for a furry companion unlike any other, Bella might just be your perfect match. Contact the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Kenosha Campus to learn more about Bella and begin the adoption process. You could be giving a truly special dog the forever home she deserves.

Wisconsin Humane Society Contact Information:

Bella was not surrendered by her previous owner for her rare condition, but rather because she was “too rambunctious.” She is just one of 17 dogs at the rescue currently available for adoption.

For more information about adopting this precious puppy or any of the other dogs, please click here.

Bella’s story is a heartwarming reminder that love knows no bounds. Could you be the one to open your heart and home to this special five-legged wonder?

Inebriated Idaho man accused of kicking a bison at Yellowstone National Park

An Idaho Falls man was arrested late last week and charged with disturbing wildlife after he is alleged to have been drunk and then kicking a bison in the leg at Yellowstone National Park.

According to a statement from the park, Clarence Yoder, 40, approached a bison within 25 yards on April 21 and was injured after he “harassed a herd of bison” and kicked one of the animals in the leg. The incident occurred at the West Entrance Road near the park’s entrance. Rangers spotted Yoder and the driver of the vehicle, McKenna Bass, 37, and then stopped them in the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.

Yoder was injured in the encounter and was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was released and then taken into custody. He faces charges of being under the influence of alcohol to a degree that could have endangered himself, disorderly conduct and approaching and disturbing wildlife.

Rangers responded to the area after receiving a report of an individual who harassed a herd of bison and kicked a bison in the leg. They located the suspect’s vehicle near the West Entrance and stopped it in the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.

Statement from National Park Services

In addition, Bass was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and interfering with failing to yield to emergency lights and also disturbing wildlife.

When an animal is near a campsite area, trail, boardwalk, parking lot or in any developed area, the law says to give the animal “space.” Stay more than 25 yards away from all large animals which include bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose and coyotes. Stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves. If needed, tourists are encouraged to turn around and go the other way to avoid interacting with wild life.

Both defendants have since pleaded not guilty. If found guilty, the two could face six months in jail and fines up to $5,000.

Please be respectful of wildlife – both for their safety and yours as well.

15-year-old blind and deaf dog left tied to park bench with note asking someone to love her

At the Tiny Paws Rescue, hearts ached for a frightened blind and deaf senior dog left tied to a park bench in New Jersey with a heartbreaking note asking someone to “please take me and love me.”

According to the rescue organization’s director, Kim Astriner, they had received a phone call from a Good Samaritan who found the dog tied to a park bench, and alongside of her was a short pink piece of paper from her owner asking for someone to help the dog.

Upon arrival, Sheba was scared and spent hours huddled in a corner, unsure of her surroundings. With gentle patience, she’s starting to relax, enjoying her meals and even a much-needed bath. Though her fur was matted and her skin irritated, we could see how much better she felt afterward.

Facebook

Sheba hasn’t had the best of care in her previous life, and little is known about her past. Her veterinary examination revealed her coat was matted, she has severe dental disease and also suffers from an underactive thyroid. She has since been prescribed medication. She is loving her new foster home. She is deaf and has very limited vision.

It is unknown why her previous owner abandoned her; it is against the law to abandon pets.

Sheba is exploring her new home and making friends with other dogs. While she’s still hesitant about being picked up, she’s open to soft pets and may become more comfortable with handling as she gains confidence.
