In Philadelphia, an emotional support alligator is running for America’s Favorite Pet. WallyGator is a seven-year-old reptile who is known in the City of York as a gator who “loves to give hugs.”

WallyGator is currently in the running, and reportedly in the lead according to his Facebook page, for America’s Favorite Pet Animal Kingdom; is a contest which includes all animals no matter what shape, size or species. The gator’s Facebook page has more than 6,000 followers, and his TikTok has more than 67,000 followers.

WallyGator has been an emotional support animal for one of his owners diagnosed with cancer according to his profile.

What is the funniest thing your pet has done?

WallyGator lives in the house. At night he likes to climb into my bed and steal my covers and pillow. WallyGator has tried to bring my blankets with him into his pond!

What’s your pet’s go-to treat?

Cheese Puff Corn and Raw Chicken.

Why should they be America’s Favorite Pet?

WallyGator is an amazing creature. He senses people emotions and gives hugs to try to cheer people up. He has been a huge support for me during my battle with cancer. He has come with me to radiation and has brought cheer to other patients and the doctors and nurses.

Wally’s owners reportedly own a reptile rescue according to his TikTok account and follows some of the most unusual video situations with the gator.

The contest is based on votes recorded online. Votes can be submitted free to AmericansFavPet.com once a day depending on the verification method listed. For a fee of a monetary donation, people can cast 10 to 250 votes which benefit the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS.org) – a nonprofit and rehabilitation organization based in Lynnwood, Washington.

The grand prize is a $10,000 check and a two-page layout in Touch Magazine. Animal Kingdom is a new branch of their legacy, America’s Favorite Pet, which will continue to run each spring. To date, the organization has funded the rescue and rehabilitation of over 5,300 animals by helping PAWS expand their wildlife rehab programs. We remain a faithful advocate for PAWS and are always looking for ways to grow and support this rescue mission.
