A woman hunter in Montana, who bragged on Facebook that she had “smoked a wolf pup,” which turned out to be a Siberian husky, pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty on Tuesday. Amber Rose Barnes was given a six-month deferred sentence in Flathead County District Court.

According to the Daily Mail, Barnes shot, killed and skinned the abandoned dog last September. She posted the disturbing photos on her Facebook page, and it wasn’t long before people who saw the pictures identified the animal as one of 18 dogs that had been abandoned in the Doris Creek area.

This morning i set out for a solo predator hunt for a bear however i got the opportunity to take another predator wolf pup 2022 was a great feeling to text my man and say i just smoked a wolf pup.

Barnes later on wrote another, equally as disturbing post, where she offered reasons for misidentifying the dog, but then suggested she would have killed the dog anyway insisting the stray dog had tried to attack her.

Barnes’ sentence includes completing an online hunting course, a $585 fine – suspended and is prohibited from using her hunting rifle as well as hunting for the next six months. And if she meets the requirement, as what many people have called little more than a slap on the wrist, her record will be wiped clean.

And did we mention hunting season in Montana doesn’t begin until September?
