Anxious dog is comforted by kitty at vet office

We all know how nervous we humans can get going to the doctor and waiting in the office for our appointment. Leafing through some magazines, playing scrabble on an Ipad or texting messages to our friends and co-workers – all distractions until the nurse comes to the door to usher us into an examining room.

So now imagine how our pets feel; after all their noses possess more than 300 million olfactory receptors compared to our six million. And dogs have a part of their brain exclusively devoted to analyzing smells – 40 times greater than ours.

Now here we are taking our best four-legged canine friend to the vet for a checkup, vaccinations, a surgical procedure or even a grooming, but how do we convince him everything is fine? Well, let’s ask a cat –

The following 10-second video seems to have resurfaced from a few years ago on Redditt, and maybe it’s time for a refresher course for all of us – dogs and cats together are very cool.

The video shows a kitty inside of a cage and a very sad looking dog lying down in front of the cage. The cat seemed to have sensed the dog’s anxiety and stretches out her paw to gently stroke the dog’s forehead. She pats the dog’s head several times as if saying, “There there, there there.”

The video has once again gone viral, and why not? Redditors were very reassuring and tried to figure out what the kitty was really saying to the nervous pooch. Your thoughts?

  1. We had a Calico Cat, Cleo, who had ESP. She could sense when our elderly, blind
Chihuahua, PeanutMan, was going to have a seizure (he had brain cancer, which ultimately caused his death). She would try to comfort him, by snuggling up with him.

Animals are incredible and can have amazing compassion for each other. We humans can certainly use more compassion for each other…….. I hope we can learn from our pets!!!

If dogs and cats can be compassionate with each other, so can we humans be more compassionate with other humans and animals!!!
