Barely a year old, weak and extremely emaciated, a puppy wandered into a stranger’s backyard in Detroit on Thursday, May 14, begging for help.

The puppy could barely stand; she was exhausted, but she was friendly and sweet. The kind homeowners contacted Rebel Dogs Detroit for help.

They called us. We answered. And now Cheer needs your help.
Her name is Cheer, and she is so thin, it is truly heartbreaking. There is no doubt, in her young life she did have a home. She is crate-trained, leash trained, potty trained and dog friendly. Cheer knows her basic commands and follows the staff at the Rebel Dogs Detroit from room to room.
Sweet has found people who are kind and care about her; apparently she isn’t taking any chances of losing them. She leans in for hugs and wants to be petted. All she wants is to feel secure, and then she is ready to finally exhale.
Cheer needs a foster home where she just needs to eat, heal and be loved while she does it. She does need consistent nutrition, monitoring and patience. She cannot be with cats as she chases them.
Cheer’s recovery will cost money since recovering from severe emaciation and lack of nutrition is a slow, expensive process. Not only is the foster home needed for Cheer, but donations are needed to help finance her recovery.
If you can’t foster, please donate. If you can’t donate, please share. Every single action matters for Cheer right now.
She found her way to a kind stranger’s backyard when she had nothing left. Please help make sure that was the moment everything changed for her.
