Many miles from her home, a pint-sized pup went missing from her family more than two months ago. Her owners had refused to give up and had been using every social media connection and campaign available to them to find their beloved pup, Smokey.

Sadly, the family had been losing hope. There had not been any sightings. Had she been stolen? Had she been killed crossing the highway?
And then the unexpected happened. On April 15, 2026, Suzette Hall, founder of the nonprofit animal rescue, Logan’s Legacy 29 and one of her volunteers had been asked to rescue a stray dog in the area of Santa Fe Springs. The dog was lost, but not alone.
The dog had a microchip, and she had a family. Excited to reunite a lost dog with her owners, Suzette called the registered owner’s phone number.

At first Smokey’s owners did not believe the phone call about their dog; fearing Suzette was trying to scam them. They quickly hung up! Of course, they wanted so much to believe it was real and that Smokey was alive and safe. They changed their minds – maybe the call was real?

It took a few minutes for the rescue miracle to sink in. The owners called Suzette back and realized their dog was truly alive, and Logan’s Legacy 29 had truly saved their pup.
Yesterday… it felt so good to save her life. Today they came to be reunited but were afraid Smokey had forgotten who they were.
But how could she ever forget the ones who loved her most?

The moment they saw each other, there were tears, smiles and pure love; it had been a reunion they thought might never happen.
Everyone is happy for Smokey. Happy endings give all of us hope. She was always meant to find her way back home.
